Editorial standards

What we promise readers, and how you can hold us to it.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Accuracy and sourcing

Every claim about what the Qur'an or a hadith says is tied to a numbered reference, and the reference is checked against the source text before a page can be published. If we cannot ground a statement, we either say that it comes from the dictionary tradition without a text behind it, or we do not make it. We do not attribute sayings to Ibn Sirin or an-Nabulsi that we cannot trace; we write about "the dictionaries in that tradition" instead.

Humility about the unseen

Dreams are one of the places where the tradition is most careful about certainty. The Prophet ﷺ himself told Abu Bakr he had got part of an interpretation right and part wrong, and would not say which. We carry that into every entry. We never present a reading as guaranteed, and we never present a dream as a prediction.

No rulings, no pressure

We are not scholars and issue no fatwas. We do not tell readers to marry, travel, invest, divorce or refrain because of a dream. Where a dream touches something that could affect a person's health or safety, we say so and point them to a doctor or a qualified scholar.

Disagreement

When the sources or scholars differ, the page says so and gives each view fairly, in a clearly marked box. We prefer showing a disagreement to flattening it into a tidy answer.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, tell us. We check it against the source, fix the page, update its review date, and record the change in the corrections log. We do not quietly delete errors.

Review and updates

Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We re-read pages when we add related material, when readers report a problem, and at least once a year.

How we use automation

We use software, including AI-assisted drafting tools, in producing this site, and we want to be open about it. The safeguard is that no page can be published unless automated checks pass: every citation must exist in the Qur'an or hadith text and must contain the phrase we say it contains, pages must meet length and structure rules, and wording that makes claims we cannot support is flagged. The checks do not replace judgment, and they cannot make an interpretation correct, so we ask scholars and careful readers to tell us where we are wrong.

Advertising

The site may carry advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads never decide what we write, and we do not accept payment for interpretations, rankings or links. See the privacy policy for what advertising cookies involve.

Your privacy in our tools

The dream guide and journal run in your browser. What you write is stored on your device only. We do not receive it, and we do not build profiles of readers.
