Children in a dream
Wealth and children are the adornment of this worldly life, says the Qur’an, and elsewhere it calls them a trial. Both at once: the dearest things, handed to us to be cared for and answered for. The interpreters read dream children inside that double truth.
In the readings handed down from Ibn Sirin and an-Nabulsi, children (أولاد) were read as joy, provision and adornment, and equally as trust and trial. Happy, healthy children lean toward joy and good arriving; a child in distress or lost points at a dear trust needing attention, and often at plain parental worry dreaming itself out.

Where the baby is the new beginning with its new burden, children grown past infancy read as the ongoing trust: joy that walks around outside your body, as parents say. The care they call for joins the readings of the mother, mercy and origin, seen now from the giving side.
