Grapes in a dream
One of the founding dreams of ta’bir itself is about grapes: in prison, the king’s cupbearer dreams he is pressing them, and Yusuf reads release and restoration in the work of his hands. The fruit has carried that hopeful note ever since.
In the readings handed down from Ibn Sirin and an-Nabulsi, grapes (عنب) were read as provision and gathered wealth, sweet and clustered. Fresh and in season, they lean favourable; pressing them carries the cupbearer’s note from Surah Yusuf: work leading to release and standing restored.
